Summary
The M & A Field Manager for the Maintenance Analyst team will Manage and Lead a group of about 10 people. This position is accountable to coordinate all disciplines during the monitoring and assessment of health condition of transmission assets and the identification of require maintenance. The Manager is also accountable to support and provide guidance to the Substation Maintenance Application Technologist, Transmission Maintenance Assistants and Right of Way Coordinators. As a Management position this person will be accountable for providing input to strategy and implementation of departmental and corporate strategy through specific initiatives in the Maintenance Analyst team.
Responsibilities
• Accountable for Performance Management including performance reviews, discipline and reward and recognition.
• Support the development of next year’s annual scope of work for operating and capital work by working with the maintenance analyst and operational engineering.
• Coordinate the monitoring and condition assessment of transmission assets.
• Coordinate the identification and prioritizing of preventative, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance.
• Coordinate the prioritization of capital maintenance.
• Represent the Maintenance and Analyst (M&A) team at the Safety Challenge meeting.
• Lead and review all safety incidents, address and follow up on actions, and ensure appropriate closure and learning’s are shared.
• Lead field contractors.
• Provide guidance to the Substation Maintenance Application Technologist, Transmission Maintenance Assistants and Right of Way Coordinators.
• Approve invoices for all emergency repairs for all disciplines (Lines and Substation).
• Provide technical support to the Manager, Maintenance and Analysis.
• Daily performance reviews.
• Develop and support training programs for all field personnel within the M&A team.
• Accountable for all field operating budgets within the M&A team.
• Represent M&A on external committee groups such as Fortis Alberta and TransAlta.
• Coordinate outage planning requirements with the System Operations group.
• Communication of issues, goals and corporate direction to staff.
• Perform Safety Audits on field contractors.
• Provide daily leadership.
• Travel is approximately 40%-60%.
Qualifications
• Electrical Technologist Diploma or Professional Electrical Engineer. (APEGGA, ASET, RPT membership or eligibility for membership or Power System Electrical Journeyman and or Power Lineman Certificate).
• 10 + years of maintenance and analysis experience in a Utility environment.
• Experience and understanding of the application, maintenance, and operation of all transmission system asset types including transmission lines, substations, protection and control, and telecommunications.
• Prior leadership experience in some capacity, (either in the work setting or outside the work setting), is a must.
• Experience in a regulated environment is preferred.
• Experience in working with SAP would be an asset.
• Business, financial and analytical experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with people internally and externally.
• Knowledge of applicable standards such as CSA, IEC, IEEE standards and functional specifications.
• Understanding fundamentals of contracts and experience in managing contractors is an asset.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a wide variety of issues simultaneously.
• Understanding of OH&S and ECUC Regulations and applications to field personnel.
• Strong Team Player.
• Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
