Summary
In support of our growth strategy, AltaLink is currently looking for a Senior Project Manager who will be responsible for the delivery of large infrastructure projects and programs exceeding the $100 million range. As Project Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for project leadership, working closely with internal and external experts including regulatory, land, environmental specialists and engineering from conceptual scoping through project completion. The Senior Project Manager is a key interface with industrial and other utility customers connecting to the AltaLink high voltage electrical transmission system, the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) as well as other key stakeholders. Successful candidates will lead the development and implementation of project strategies to ensure the successful completion of projects with accountability for project approvals, cost, quality, schedule and safety. These positions will be of interest to experienced project managers who have demonstrated initiative and skills in overcoming challenges of successfully delivering complex projects involving rigorous stakeholder and regulatory oversight.

This is a full-time position based out of the Calgary office, and will report to the Manager, Projects within the Operations Division.

Responsibilities
• Effectively lead projects from concept to completion including developing and implementing project strategies.
• Obtain regulatory approvals including AUC Permit and Licence.
• Ensure project funding is obtained and manage project cash flow.
• Manage directly and indirectly the project team.
• Manage overall cost, quality, schedule and safety to meet the project objectives.
• Identify project risks and develop and implement mitigation strategies.
• Act as a key contact with the AESO and clients throughout project execution, reporting progress in a timely and efficient manner and obtaining approval for all scope changes.
• Effectively and accurately report project status, finances, and schedule to senior management.
• Manage AltaLink’s identity with clients and stakeholders including the public affected by Projects.
• Manage consultants and EPC contractors responsible for design and engineering, construction, etc.

Qualifications
• 10+ years of proven project management experience. Experience should preferably include leadership of infrastructure projects involving complex regulatory processes and significant public and other stakeholder interest.
• Strong facilitator and problem-solver with a high degree of flexibility and proven diplomacy and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrated leadership capability.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with people internally and externally.
• Experience managing EPC contractors.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic changing environment with multiple, often conflicting, priorities.
• Capable of building, managing and guiding a multi-discipline team including directly assigned project staff and part time support staff.

The following would be assets:
• Professional Engineer preferred in good standing with APEGGA or other provincial engineering association.
• Technical experience in the High Voltage Electrical Transmission field would be an asset.
• Experience in a regulated environment is preferred.
• Project Management Certification would be an asset.
• Industrial infrastructure owner company experience preferred.
