Director, Major Projects (South) - Full Time
Summary
Reporting to the Vice-President, Projects, the Director, Major Projects (South) will be accountable to deliver a program of related high-voltage power transmission projects in the southern Alberta region of AltaLink’s operating area that could total approximately $2 billion, with the largest single project over $700 million.
As Director, Major Projects, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team, drawing from the breadth of the entire corporation, and be accountable for the entire project/program from inception through to initial operation. Your team will include Project Managers, Project Control Specialists, Regulatory, Consultation, Siting, Land, Communications, Government Relations and First Nations Relations staff.
Responsibilities
• Leadership, coordination and direction of Project Team.
• Primary Project interface with Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO).
• Development of project delivery strategies inclusive of all aspects of the project initiation and development/permitting phases.
• Prime accountability for Budget, Schedule, Scope Control, Quality and Safety as it relates to the program.
• Executive interface and reporting of status.
• Owner’s oversight and management of EPC contractor and/or other key suppliers to the Project(s).
• Direction and mentorship of Project Manager(s).
Qualifications
• Professional Engineer eligible for membership to APEGGA.
• 15 years experience in Project Management with demonstrated ability to lead complex multi-disciplinary projects of substantial scale (PMP preferred).
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Extremely effective communicator.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully lead a project through the Regulatory/Permitting.
• Experience in providing the interface between Sr. Corporate Executive and the Project team.
• Experience in linear infrastructure type projects an asset.
• Familiarity and experience with the Alberta electrical Regulatory compact is highly desirable.
