October 22, 2012 - Stantec provides consulting services in engineering, architecture, planning, project management and project economics for infrastructure and facilities projects. The professionals in our Fredericton Industrial Engineering group are a key part of our New Brunswick team. Our EI&C (Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls) department is a close-knit team of dedicated people working on a wide range of challenging projects across many industries. Stantec's Fredericton office is currently looking for:

Two Senior Electrical Engineers.
for its Fredericton, N.B., office.

Responsibilities:
The individual must be an excellent communicator and skilled problem-solver with a strong attention to detail. This is a dynamic work environment where you will play a pivotal role in a diverse range of projects, from initial planning to design, construction, commissioning and startup. The position includes the design of electrical power distribution systems with the following specific responsibilities:

• Design and analysis of complete medium/high voltage power systems including facility substations, transformers, generators, switchgear, power metering, and protection and controls.
• Design and analysis of power distribution systems within industrial facilities including unit substations, switchgear, motor control centres, variable frequency drives, soft starts, motors, etc.
• Design power metering and protection and controls schemes.
• Perform power system analysis and coordination studies, including arc flash.
• Preparation of reports, studies, specifications, and electrical design documents.
• Provide technical expertise, mentoring and support to team members.
• Participate in senior technical reviews.
• Participate in business development activities with existing and potential clients.

Qualifications and Skills:
• An Electrical Engineering Degree from an accredited university.
• Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick.
• 15+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in the design of industrial power distribution systems.
• Design experience in the Power Generation industry, with an understanding of power generation and distribution systems, including station services.
• Strong overall technical expertise in power distribution systems with a solid understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code, IEEE Standards and Practices and Industry recognized power system design and analysis software. Knowledge of NEC is considered an asset.
• Experience using SKM, ETAP or other power system software to perform coordination studies, load flow and arc flash studies would be an asset.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong attention to detail. Team work and client relations are essential to the position.
• Experience and/or interest in developing new business opportunities.
