And while a lot of fun is to be had, the OEL also makes sure to pack a ton of information into its conference line-up. The program starts with a presentation entitled “Increase your Sales with Solar under the OPA FIT Program”, delivered by Andrew Wilkins of MATRIX ENERGY INC., a wholesale distributor and integrator of renewable energy products/systems. (EBMag has had the pleasure of meeting Andrew at both Construct Canada 2009 and CanSIA’s Solar Conference 2009.) Andrew has delivered numerous presentations on renewable energy to groups such as Construction Specifications Canada, BellCenter, HOK Architects and SNC Lavalin.

Also of note is the presentation “What's New in Retirement Planning for 2010”, presented by John Niekraszewicz, principal at JVK Life & Wealth Advisory Group. John is the author of “What You Ought to Know before planning Your Business Succession”, and has been published in York Business News, Engineering Dimensions, Daily Commercial News, The Ontario Professional Surveyor and more.

With skilled labour worries still on the minds of many, the presentation “Building Capacity for Tomorrow’s Construction Workforce” should prove most enlightening. It is presented by George Gritziotis, executive director of the CONSTRUCTION SECTOR COUNCIL (CSC), a national labour management partnership organization mandated to identify and undertake human resource projects and initiatives geared toward meeting the current and future human resource needs of the construction industry.

There will also be a presentation from ELECTRICAL SAFETY AUTHORITY (ESA), the Product Expo–Lunch n’ Learn, awards dinner and more. Meantime, the conference venue promises to deliver a great getaway. Two hours northwest of Toronto, The Westin Trillium House, Blue Mountain, is located next to both Georgian Bay and the Niagara Escarpment. You'll find numerous diversions (aside from conference activities), including skiing, snowboarding, golf, the Plunge aquatic centre, events and festivals, or hiking along the escarpment.
