May 8, 2012 - “Gardeners can put their green thumbs to good use this week courtesy of the SaskPower Shand Greenhouse,” says the utility. On May 9 and 10, all Saskatchewan residents can visit any of SaskPower’s customer service offices across the province—including head office in Regina—from 8 am to 4:30 pm for a free saskatoon bush seedling.
“Since 1991, the Shand Greenhouse has given away almost eight million seedlings across Saskatchewan,” said Rob Norris, minister responsible for SaskPower. “The greenhouse is an excellent example of SaskPower’s commitment to the environment.”

The Shand Greenhouse near Estevan uses waste heat from nearby Shand Power Station to grow tree and shrub seedlings.

“This year, the SaskPower Shand Greenhouse is giving away an impressive 13,400 saskatoon bush seedlings as part of our ongoing commitment to preserve and enhance the province’s natural landscape,” said Robert Watson, SaskPower president and CEO.

Seedlings supplies are limited; maximum one seedling per customer. For a complete list of pick-up locations and hours of operation visit:
