Abhorrent extension cords for wiring bedrooms

Ron writes: This is a junction of extension cords used to wire the bedrooms on the second floor, kitchen (including the fridge), connected to BX 14/2 on a 20-amp breaker at the panel.
One of the ungrounded outlets set against the corner bead had the hot screw resting against it, and a nail to hang a coat nailed into it! The home inspection led the owners to believe that only minor repairs were needed to obtain insurance.
