EBMag was there as René Marineau, past president of Canlyte Inc., received the 2011 Industry Recognition Award (IRA) during EFC's AGM awards luncheon on April 19 in Mississauga, Ont. The new Board of Directors for 2011-2012 was also announced that day, with Jean Belhumeur, president of Leviton Manufacturing of Canada, appointed Chair. EBMag joined Osram Sylvania's Toronto workshop as part of its LED Road Show to preview the future of lighting. Leading the morning and afternoon sessions was JR Salker, applications engineering specialist, who touched on new LED products and emerging trends. While in Indianapolis for the Work Truck Show 2011, Electrical Business was invited to a special, behind-the-scenes tour of Ener1’s battery pack assembly plant in Greenfield, Ind., which it calls “America’s first full-scale lithium-ion battery plant”.

EBMag was there as Wieland Electric celebrated its 100th Anniversary at the company’s Oakville office/warehouse. Detachable electrical connections are still Wieland’s main business. 100 years ago, engineer Friedrich H.
