May 3, 2012 - EBMag was pleased to attend a National Electrical Safety Summit hosted by ESFi (Electrical Safety Foundation International) Canada. The purpose of the event? “Our first major initiative is to bring together thought leaders in our industry to discuss challenges and opportunities for improving electrical safety in Canada.”
May 3, 2012 - EBMag was pleased to attend the grand re-opening of Nedco’s Keaton Crescent branch counter. The event also hosted a packed BBQ in support of “Hungry for Change”—an ongoing campaign driven by Canada’s electrical industry that raises funds to feed vulnerable children.
"Good safety is good business" – that's one of the key takeaways EBMag's associate editor Alyssa Dalton picked up from Partners in Prevention 2012, the self-proclaimed largest health and safety show in Canada. The show ran from May 1-2 in Mississauga, Ont., and drew out a strong turnout from the electrical industry, including support from ESA (Electrical Safety Authority), CSA (Canadian Standards Association) and IHSA (Infrastructure Health & Safety Association). Couldn't make it? This gallery contains photos from the tradeshow floor. (Photos. A. Dalton.)
BICSI—an association supporting the information technology systems (ITS) industry—just concluded its Canadian Conference & Exhibition in Niagara Falls, Ont. The event attracted nearly 1000 delegates from around the world, who came for top-notch ITS education and networking. (Photos A. Capkun) Read the Summary HERE.
April 30, 2012 - Electrical Business was honoured to be the only Canadian media to attend Caterpillar's exclusive press summit in Lafayette, Ind., last week, where associate editor Alyssa Dalton scored a sneak-peek at the C175-20 diesel genset, which launches today. While there, she also toured the 1.3-million-sf. Lafayette plant facility – the route taken ended up being 3 miles, or almost 5 kilometres, long!

April 25, 2012 - EBMag was on hand April 19 when Electro-Federation Canada (EFC) presented its 2012 Industry Recognition Award (IRA) to Wayne Donaldson of Rexel Canada at EFC's annual general meeting in Mississauga, Ont. Also announced that day were the new board of directors and Elaine Gerrie-Valentini, co-president & CEO of Gerrie Electric Wholesale Ltd., chair, for the 2012-2013 term.
April 23, 2012 - Here are scenes from EBMag's associate editor Alyssa Dalton's last day at Light+Building 2012... in Frankfurt, Germany, which ran April 15-20. This April 17 gallery contains photos from the different booths on the tradeshow floor from when Alyssa was there reporting live.
April 23, 2012 - Guten Tag! Earlier this month, EBMag's associate editor Alyssa Dalton ventured over to Frankfurt, Germany, to cover Light+Building 2012 – arguably one of the world's largest lighting and building-services technology shows. This gallery contains photos from Day 2 (April 16) at the tradeshow, highlighting energy-efficient building system solutions, and two special exhibits – the E-House (an intelligent building completely operated with smart controls) and a real-life smart grid display.
What a fantastic day with our friends (new and old) at Le Salon Lumen (Part 2) in Montreal. This was our first time attending (thanks Jennifer Salo!) and, hopefully, not the last. These photos are from the exhibition hall, where we saw a lot of quality activity. (Photos A. Capkun) See you in 2014!
