July 20, 2016 – In the wake of Alberta’s plan to transition to more renewable energy sources, a consortium of private sector energy companies have joined forces to launch the Alberta Storage Alliance (ASA) to advance energy storage technologies. Members include: BYD, Enercon, ENMAX, General Electric, NRStor, Opus One Solutions, RES, Rocky Mountain Power, S&C Electric, Temporal Power and UniEnergy Technologies.

The ASA says it seeks to help energy market stakeholders, regulators and politicians better understand how to integrate energy storage and is recommending a joint strategy for Alberta to leverage these technologies within its electricity market. This strategy is highlighted in the ASA’s recently released white paper: Energy Storage: Unlocking the Value for Alberta’s Grid, which you can download below.
