Northern Power offers tech-neutral integrated energy storage

April 26, 2016 | By Anthony Capkun

April 25, 2016 – Northern Power Systems Corp.’s new ESS (energy storage solution)—which features the FP2000 FlexPhase power conversion system—promises to enable developers and end users to acquire a fully integrated energy storage system “tailored to their needs”.

The system has a range of DC voltage optimization and can be effective with both flow, lithium and lead acid (or any other chemical) batteries, as well as mechanical storage options, such as flywheels.

The ESS can be configured for a range of applications, and can be packaged into containers, shelters, trailers or buildings, with an output power range of 125kVA to 2000kVA. The duration of rated power can be configured from 15 minutes to 4 hours. Key applications include utility grid support, behind-the-meter and hybrid microgrids.
