Monday, 19 July 2010 |
Wago Corporation introduced the 2020 and 2022 series X-Coms pluggable connector systems. They include touchproof, pre-wired assemblies with TopJobs terminal blocks and combine pluggable connectors, DIN-rail blocks, and Cage Clamp connection. Before shipment, the X-Coms is tested for wiring and when installed, the X-Coms “provides PLC-to-terminal block wiring and pluggable connections for cabinet door accessories to terminal blocks,” says the release. The terminal blocks are available in single- or double-deck configurations with 3.5 or 5.2mm pin spacing and modular plugs are available in 1- and 20 conductor entries. Also available are 1-conductor/1-pin, 2-condutor/1-pin and 2-conductor/2-pin blocks. Accessories include: jumpers, test plugs, and marking.

Monday, 05 July 2010 |
MTL Instruments, a unit of Cooper Crouse-Hinds, launched a range of Fieldbus Barrier wiring hubs called the 9370-FB Series. These hubs are to connect safe field instruments to Foundation fieldbus networks in hazardous areas. The Fieldbus Barrier “retains the major benefits of the “High Energy Trunk” technique whilst removing the drawbacks associated with existing Field Barrier implementations,” says the release. The 9370-FB Series contain a fixed carrier assembly and pluggable components that come in stainless steel or carbon-loaded GRP. While the equipment is live, all parts of the system containing electronic circuits are housed in “pluggable” modules that can be removed and replaced. The system’s barrier modules, terminator and optional surge protection devices are all certified for removal and replacement in hazardous areas, according to MTL.

|
Tuesday, 01 June 2010 |
RuggedCom Inc. has introduced a high-power WiMAX base station called the RuggedMAX WiN7018, which is intended for applications such as distribution automation, AMI/R backhaul or SCADA. Designed to meet the Canadian regulations for 1.8 GHz radio frequency spectra for electric power applications, it delivers multi-megabit IP, covering radii of up to 40 km. RuggedCom also offers a line of subscriber units in 1.8 GHz. These support the new RuggedPower Injector, which provides the ability to feed subscriber units with low-voltage DC feeds from 10-60 vDC, or with high-voltage sources, such as 125 vDC. Subscribers with the RuggedPower Injector have the option to convert serial based signals.

|
Saturday, 01 May 2010 |
Wago Corp.’s 713 Series MCS Mini-HD double row connector system trims front-panel space by up to 40%, says the company. The 713 Series is a low-voltage (150V/10A [UL] and 160V/10A [IEC]) wire-to-board connector for control circuits, such as I/O interfaces and sensor cables. A high-density design features rear-side Cage Clamp terminals permitting factory or in-field wiring. This series accommodates 6-36 poles in three variants: standard connector; lever-equipped; and screw-interlock for vibration-prone applications.

Schneider Electric expands relays with Zelio solid-state relay |

|
Saturday, 01 May 2010 |
Schneider has expanded its line of relays to include the new Zelio solid-state relay. Measuring 22.5-mm to 45.5-mm wide, the vibration-resistant relay boasts an unlimited service life because, Schneider points out, it has no moving parts. It features high breaking capacities, a wide input voltage range and a front-facing LED for instant indication of line voltage. Complete silence when switching makes this relay suitable for hospitals and buildings. You can choose from two options: the SSRD features an integrated heat sink for heat dissipation, and can be clipped directly onto DIN rail or be panel-mounted; the SSRP is panel-mounted and can be combined with a factory-tested heat sink for applications requiring considerable heat dissipation. The ROHS-compliant relays can be used in an ambient environment of -40ºC to 80ºC; they comply with IEC 60950, UL E258297 and CSA C168986.

|
Saturday, 01 May 2010 |
A patented add-on device that keeps transmission equipment (including M2M, smart grid, SCADA, RTUs, AMR/AMI) fully operational without human intervention is being introduced by Videogenix Inc. The iPulse smart reboot device is a compact module that detects failure automatically and fully reboots locked-up electronic equipment. The device is compatible with electronic equipment including wired, wireless or cellular networks, and operates independently from the equipment being monitored. Requiring no external or dedicated power supply, it provides internal voltage regulation, and installs in-line by simply plugging into the equipment’s I/O or serial port.
