Manitoba Hydro names Darren Rainkie interim president

September 4, 2015 – The Manitoba Hydro-Electric Board has named Darren Rainkie as interim president and CEO, following Scott Thomson’s departure.

Rainkie is currently Manitoba Hydro’s CFO and vice-president of Finance and Regulatory Affairs.

Bill Fraser, chair of the board, said they hope to name a permanent president within the next two months.

Rainkie joined Price Waterhouse in 1988, where he obtained his chartered accountant designation. He joined Centra Gas in 1994 as a financial analyst.

Following the acquisition of Centra by Manitoba Hydro in 1999, he was named manager of regulatory affairs before becoming treasurer in 2006. He then became corporate controller of Manitoba Hydro in 2008, and was appointed to his current role as CFO in 2013.
