May 30, 2016 – Novinium’s PreVent, a manhole event prevention system, is designed to reduce incidents such as manhole fires, smoking and explosions.

With PreVent, a ventilator removes combustible gases and prevents gas accumulation to improve overall manhole environment. According to Novinium, water control features limit exposure to salt water and debris, and the real-time smart monitoring system uses cloud-based sensors to predict incidents and transmit immediate alerts.

There is also a ventilated cover, crowned with water dams and air slots to limit water and salt intrusion.

Manhole events include fire, smoke and explosions.
