April 5, 2013 - Acuity Brands has launched four new post top LED luminaires from Antique Street Lamps, designed for applications, such as city streets and parking lots, parks, residential areas, campuses, and walkways. The RG LED series, AL25 LED, LTL30 LED and ATL23 LED luminaires claim to minimize maintenance time and costs. Users can choose between nine available base styles, decorative and clear metal tops, bands and medallions. RG LED series luminaires offer an expected service life of 50,000 - 70,000 hours.

March 19, 2013 - Acuity Brands’ Peerless Lighting has introduced the Staple suite of suspended and wall-mount luminaires, boasting modern design, comfortable illumination, efficient performance and energy-saving controls options for a wide range of indoor applications. Available for either T8 or T5/T5HO lamps of 4-ft, 8-ft and 12-ft lengths, Staple luminaires can be installed as individual units or joined together to form continuous runs. According to Peerless, Staple luminaires are more than 90% efficient—when specified for single T8 lamps and spaced 10-ft apart on-centre in a typical 60-ft x 40-ft open office, Staple luminaires use as low as .60W/sf while delivering 31 foot candles on a 2.5-ft high work surface. The luminaires can also be specified with one or more of the following options: integrated nLight micro sensor; Microphonics technology for occupancy on/off control; and nLight module for row, room, building or campus-wide network connectivity and control.

March 15, 2013 - Acuity Brands has announced it has acquired eldoLAB Holding B.V., (eldoLED), a player in the design and manufacturing world of intelligent drivers for LED-based lighting systems. Founded in 2003, eldoLED is a privately-owned company headquartered in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

January 8, 2013 - Acuity Brands, a player in energy-efficient lighting and control solutions, has acquired the assets of Adura Technologies Inc., a developer of wireless controls and energy management solutions. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

November 1, 2012 - Acuity Brands' Canvis OLED luminaire collection marketed by Winona Lighting and Easyl show controller were honoured with Innovation Awards from IIDEX Canada 2012—the Canvis collection was awarded Silver in the innovative lighting category, and the Easyl show controller for RGB luminaires won Bronze in the lighting controls category.

October 30, 2012 - Halco Lighting Technologies welcomes Jerry Kalb to the position of director of business development. Kalb brings more than thirty years of knowledge in the lighting industry to the Halco team, with experience from GE Lighting, Acuity Brands Lighting and EYE Lighting.

October 22, 2012 - Acuity Brands' new Lithonia Lighting P series LED downlighting modules boast an efficacy of 70 lumens per watt—86% more efficient than incandescent luminaries, it says. The modules feature Center2Edge technology, which triggers the module’s LED board to act like an incandescent point source while dimming, it adds. Designed for residential and light commercial applications, customers can choose between three different mounting options.

Located in Thornhill, Ont., the facility includes offices, a warehouse distribution centre and showroom. And EBMag got a private tour of the new space!

September 17, 2012 - Acuity Brands has introduced the Shiver LED luminaire from Lithonia Lighting, a refrigeration and display case lighting system for use in environments ranging from -30ºC to 30ºC. Equipped with Acuity's AccuDrive technology, the fixture uses a single-driver system to operate all fixtures in a 2- to 6-door case, claiming to reduce installation and maintenance costs with fewer components to mount or wire. Sensor options include high/low dimming down to 25%, or on/off for a total solid-state solution.
