January 27, 2012 - Shortages in the skilled trades are already having an impact on Canadian employers, says the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum (CAF-FCA), issuing an early warning for the demographic crunch expected in the next decade. Construction, mining, energy, manufacturing and service sectors all report real and anticipated shortages that will pose a pan-Canadian challenge to the country’s economy, continues CAF.

While the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence (ACCE) at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ont., has been open since September 2011, it just recently celebrated its grand opening several weeks ago.

This transition is required to maintain the confidence of its customers and sole shareholder the GNWT. While NTPC has delivered power to the customers of the NWT for many years, pressure with respect to increasing rates and sliding reliability demanded significant changes. While many changes have already been implemented, others will take further time to complete.
