February 2, 2012 - Atkore International's Cope Wire Basket gets a new name in North America! After manufacturing wire basket under the Cope brand in North America and under the Acroba brand in the rest of the world, Atkore is now producing wire basket globally under the Acroba brand.

Today, cable test tools come in all shapes and sizes and, while every tester has its uses, not all of them will meet the required standards or certification warranty requirements for specific applications.

Legrand/Wiremold has introduced what it calls the smallest, lowest, narrowest and ADA-compliant (Americans with Disabilities Act) overfloor raceway system. Designed for relocatable or permanent installations where access through floors and ceilings is not an option, the Wiremold OFR Series overfloor raceway system provides four channels of capacity and access to a range of power, communications and A/V connectivity. This overfloor raceway system attaches directly to floor covering, including carpet, tile and wood (installers do not have to remove or cut into existing floor coverings). The textured black powdercoat finish resists scuffing and scratches, and is paintable. The raceway cover is difficult to remove without the proper tools, discouraging unwanted access. The OFR Series includes transition fittings to feed from Wiremold DS4000, 4000 and 2400 Series wall-mounted raceways, as well as from Vista Point5 architectural columns. It also accepts Wiremold Open System device plates that provide connectivity to a range of devices.

Optical Cable Corp. (OCC) introduced QuadBox, a 4-channel pre-terminated copper solution designed to offer multiple category and construction options, offering a range of transmission rates for data centre applications. The QuadBox uses bundled 4-pair cable and four Keystone outlet jacks that can accommodate Cat 5e, 6 and 6a cable, allowing multiple protocol options from 10Mbps-10Gbps. It is compatible with all OCC KMJ series jacks, and is available in both unshielded and shielded options, offering optional grounded shield for network isolation or Alien Crosstalk as needed for security and/or protocol requirements. Each cable option is available in both CMR and CMP ratings. The QuadBox housing can be secured into the rear of a patch panel, using mounted clips that can be released by ‘pinching’ the clips. While the housing is designed to be accessed from the rear of the panel, a carrier module also permits access from the front of the panel for ease of maintenance by the network user.

By employing the Limited Axcess LC fiber optic connectors network, says Optical, administrators can segregate networks for security or confidentiality concerns. The LAX-series adapter plates and patch cables are available in 12 keyed colour-coded options that limit unauthorized access to network ports. All LAX adapter plates are accepted in any of OCC’s fiber optic enclosures and can even be pre-terminated for plug-n-play installations. A further nine sizes have been added to Hammond Manufacturing’s 1550 family; a range of industry-standard sized, small die-cast aluminum enclosures that promise good mechanical protection and EMC attenuation levels. The tapped holes and machine screws used to secure the lid make them particularly suitable for use where interior access will be required on a regular basis in a wide variety of applications. Available with a natural or black epoxy powder-coated finish, the units are supplied in standard and watertight versions. Sizes range from 60 x 55 x 26 mm to 275 x 175 x 63 mm. The standard units are sealed to IP54, while the watertight versions (1550W) are supplied with a separate compressible self-adhesive gasket that, when fitted between the lid and the base, provides dust and water sealing to IP66.
