May 25, 2013 - Greenlee Utility has launched four new guillotine-style cutting heads for cutting cables and other materials. The SDG45 and SDG55 remote cutting heads are designed to cut ACSR cables and other materials, such as rebar, guy strand and ground rods; SDG85 and SDG105 heads are designed to cut large-diameter copper and aluminum cables. A battery-powered Gator version of the SDG105 is also available (ESG105LU), which features single-trigger operation and automatic retraction. “Guillotine-style heads are far safer than conventional, scissor-style cable cutters,” said Ryan Berg, senior product manager. “They also reduce egging and distorting cables, giving users cleaner, more accurate cuts.” Remote heads allow utility line workers to operate safely away from the cutting location. All four heads can be powered by the EHP700LU battery-powered hydraulic pump.
May 21, 2013 - Greenlee is looking for photos from professional tradespeople from their toughest jobs. From braving harsh elements to poor electrical system organization, users will be asked to submit their photos through June 21, 2013.
May 17, 2013 - Greenlee, a Textron company, says its new high-quality reciprocating saw blades are designed to cut a variety of construction materials, thanks to its carbon-alloy blade frame and cobalt tool-steel teeth. The reciprocating blade line-up consists of standard-duty Bi-Metal blades, Specialty blades, Extreme blades, and Extreme Ti-Metal titanium-coated blades. The Specialty blades are purpose-built for cutting construction materials, such as stainless steel, cement board, masonry block, and cast-iron pipe. The Extreme blades feature a wider, thicker blade frame, suitable for structural steel applications, such as angle iron, I-beam, structural tubing and C-channel. The Extreme Ti-Metal blades boast titanium coating to help reduce friction and heat build-up, giving it the longest blade life in the entire Greenlee reciprocating blade lineup.
May 1, 2013 - In a move to broaden its position in the utility segment, Greenlee (a Textron Inc. company) says it has acquired Sherman & Reilly Inc., a manufacturer of underground and aerial transmission and distribution products based in Chattanooga, Tenn.
April 25, 2013 - Greenlee’s new and redesigned E-Z Bore Self-Feed Wood Boring Bits claim to make conduit or pipe sized holes up to four times faster than standard bi-metal hole saws, without a difficult slug to remove. The E-Z Bore bits are suitable for different types of construction lumber, including hardwood, softwood, laminated veneer, and pressure-treated woods. According to Greenlee, the two-blade design resists clogging, and the outer spur teeth help prevent splintering and blowouts while providing fast, smooth holes. The bits are available in 13 sizes from 1-in to 4-5/8-in (for installing 1/2-in to 4-in conduit and pipe). A seven-piece contractor kit is also available.
March 7, 2013 - Greenlee has launched the LP6, an interchangeable head cutter/crimping unit suitable for 6-ton. work, which boasts a faster and easier way for contractors and linemen to cut and crimp connections. The low-pressure hydraulic tool features a spring-loaded pin for quick change of the crimping and cutting jaws. The head rotates 350º and at 8.4 lbs, the LP6 can be operated with one hand. The tool is also available with or without couplers installed from the factory.
November 27, 2012 - The new coaxial cable tool kit from Greenlee contain the six essential tools a professional cable technician needs to strip, cut and terminate coaxial cables when making repairs or installations, says the company. The 46601 coaxial cable tool kit includes 8-in. diagonal cutting pliers with laser-hardened edges; RG 59/6/6Q – 7/11 coaxial cable stripper with spring-loaded handles; and RG 59/6/6Q 7/11 coaxial compression tool.
