IBM, Telvent and Hydro One aim to improve Ontario’s grid
April 12, 2012 - IBM and business partner Telvent announced they have been selected by Hydro One—a distributor of electricity in Ontario—for a new smart grid project that aims to transform the province’s electrical system. Together, the companies will run simulations and tests to determine the smart grid technologies that have the potential to improve power efficiency and reliability.
January 24, 2012 - Yesterday, Hydro One said it will invest in Ontario college engineering students with a $3-million commitment to “educating and training its future workforce”. With up to 30% Hydro One’s workforce eligible to retire in the next five years, promoting careers in the utility sector, says Hydro One, is a timely initiative.

Upgrading transmission system creating over 100 jobs in Ontario
December 13, 2011 - Upgrades to Ontario’s electricity transmission system are creating 115 new skilled construction jobs, says the province’s Liberals, and helping to “unlock new opportunities for clean energy projects”. The province says it is renewing and rebuilding more than 80% of its aging electricity infrastructure.
