Electricity Human Resources Canada spearheading Renewing Futures initiative
December 18, 2012 - To address “an unprecedented severe skilled labour shortage facing the renewable electricity industry”, Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC)—formerly Electricity Sector Council (ESC)—is working with industry to develop a set of strategies for “recruiting and retaining the most important asset to any organization”: its skilled workers. According to EHRC, timely HR best practices and a “solid understanding of labour market conditions can make a big impact on a company’s bottom line well into the future”.

New ESC report examines Aboriginal procurement strategies in electrical sector
June 26, 2012 - The Electricity Sector Council (ESC) has released the findings of a new report which examines the Aboriginal procurement strategies employed in the electricity and renewable industry. The report includes a number of case studies from employers in the sector and provides guidelines and information that other businesses in this sector can use to increase Aboriginal procurement.

ESC 'Power in Motion' report confirms severe skilled labour shortage
February 6, 2012 - Released today, the new Electricity Sector Council (ESC) 2011 workforce planning report, Power in Motion, confirms the findings of two earlier ESC reports— there is a severe skilled labour shortage and united action is needed to meet these unprecedented labour market challenges.
