June 10, 2013 - The Industry Data Exchange Association Inc. (IDEA) has established an Innovation Advisory Council comprising “thought leaders” in the electrical wholesale distribution space from distributor and manufacturer companies. The council’s initial focus is on ways to enhance manufacturer product content available to distributors through the Industry Data Warehouse (IDW).
May 16, 2013 - Explosion-proof lights have joined Phoenix Products’ offering of LED fixtures (photos below). The SLXP, SLX and DLX LED fixtures provide an instant-on light source while remaining cool to the touch. Designed to replace HID and incandescent floods, the fixtures use 39 watts and provide a 56% energy savings when compared to a 70W metal halide equivalent. The fixtures are ETL/cETL certified, conforming to UL 1598 Ordinary Locations, 1598A Marine Outside Type (Saltwater), 844 Hazardous Locations (T6 [85C]), CSA and NEMA 4X, allowing them to serve in numerous applications.
May 6, 2013 - General Cable has announced it has reached IDEA’s (The Industry Data Exchange Association’s) Platinum Band, describing it as the “most prestigious level of IDEA’s Bands of Excellence program”.
April 10, 2013 - The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) in the States expressed its “overall satisfaction” with the Department of Energy’s (DoE) final rule establishing increased energy conservation standards for distribution transformers.
March 6, 2013 - Panduit says its Integrated Network Zone System enables seamless communications between control rooms and the manufacturing floors within industrial facilities. Available in three configurations, the system includes an Allen-Bradley Stratix industrial switch that is pre-assembled into a NEMA-rated 4/12 enclosure with integrated structured cabling and cable management. The UL-certified system also includes Allen-Bradley UPSs installed behind a protective cover. The system promises to deliver up to a 75% reduction in deployment time.
February 26, 2013 - Rittal’s newly redesigned rain hoods allow fan cooling in any environment, boasts the company, including harsh chemical and washdown locations. The hoods are available in powder-coated carbon steel offering NEMA 3R and NEMA 4 protection. The powder-coated versions are RAL 7035 (light grey), blending in with colour and texture of Rittal’s line of industrial enclosures. The stainless steel version offers NEMA 4X protection. The surface of the rain hood is a #4 brushed surface matching the surface of Rittal’s stainless steel enclosures. Rittal’s Top Therm fans and filters provide CSA-certified NEMA 12 protection right out of the box, says the company. With the addition of a standard fan and filter rain hood, this protection can be increased to NEMA 3R, 4 or 4X.

August 27, 2012 - Halco Lighting Technologies has introduced its ProLume High Performance programmed start T8 ballasts, claiming to help maximize lamp life, facilitate maintenance and decrease energy costs. Designed for use in buildings with occupancy or daylight sensors and in applications with frequent on/off switching, the T8 ballasts operate in parallel mode, so that when one lamp in a fixture fails, the remaining lamps continue operating. Low ballast factor models EP232PS/L/MV/HE and EP432PS/L/MV/HE can provide an additional 13-15% energy savings, says Halco. The ballasts are NEMA Premium designated and CEE listed.
