March 5, 2012 - New Water Plumbing Inc., of Thornhill, Ont., has been fined $100,000 for a violation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) after a worker was electrocuted.
February 8, 2012 - Bunge Canada Holdings (Bunge) of Halifax, N.S., has pleaded guilty to one count under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) Act after failing to ensure that a worker did not work within 4.6 metres of an exposed energized conductor. The company was fined $42,000.
February 3, 2012 - Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel and Conference Centre, of Etobicoke, Ont., was fined $70,000 for a violation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) after a worker was injured.
January 31, 2012 - Marathon Drilling Co. Ltd., a Greely, Ont., construction company, has been fined $65,000 for a violation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) after a worker was shocked and burned.
December 6, 2011 - WorkSafeNB has reported that on January 5, 2011, 17-year-old Patrick Desjardins died from an electrical shock he received while using a floor buffer that had been plugged into a standard 110-volt power source. He was working on a wet floor at the Wal-Mart store in Grand Falls, N.B.
November 23, 2011 - Loch Lomond Ski Area Limited, operator of a Thunder Bay, Ont., ski hill, was fined $70,000 for a violation of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act after one worker was electrocuted and another was injured.
November 23, 2011 - ThyssenKrupp Industrial Services Canada Inc., carrying on business as ThyssenKrupp Hearn Division, a provider of warehousing, packaging and transportation services, has been fined $160,000 for a violation of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act after a worker was injured. Don Hearn Jr., a supervisor, was fined $11,000 in relation to the same incident.
