IESO says solar and demand-response effects will soon be noticeable
May 24, 2013 - Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) says that, over the next 18 months, solar energy and demand response will have a growing and noticeable impact on the power grid, “working to reduce summer peaks and help meet the province's overall energy needs”.

Electrical flash today hospitalizes 2 Hydro Ottawa employees
May 8, 2013 - Hydro Ottawa reports that today, May 8, an electrical incident occurred before noon at 265 Poulin Avenue in the western portion of its service territory. Two Hydro Ottawa employees were re-energizing an electrical vault after maintenance work had been completed when an electrical flash occurred.

Algoma Tubes fined $70K after workers burned by arc flash
May 1, 2013 - Ontario’s Ministry of Labour (MoL) reports Algoma Tubes Inc.—a manufacturer of steel pipe products based in Whitehorse, Yukon—has been fined $70,000 for a violation of the Occupational Health & Safety Act after two workers were injured.

600,000 Canadians were affected by 2012 power outages
