b_200_0_16777215_0___images_stories_WebNews2010_jvc_vr-n1600ua_network_video_recorderlr.jpg JVC Professional Products is releasing a new VR-N1600UA network video recorder (NVR) and version 5.4 firmware upgrade for current VR-N1600U customers. Among other features, the new NVR doubles the camera capacity and frame rates of previous models. With the purchase of separate additional camera licences, the 16-channel VR-N1600UA can support up to 32 cameras; it also has double the memory capacity of earlier models, so it supports up to 160 fps for recording, viewing, and network distributing frame rates. The 5.4 firmware features a master/slave configuration that allows multiple NVRs to be connected over the network and share resources between them without a PC. Compatible with VR-N1600UA, VR-N1600U and VR-900U units, it creates an integrated monitoring system that essentially expands an existing network without replacing equipment.

Honeywell’s Pro-Watch security management software is now leveraging the Niagara AX Framework from Tridium—an open software platform that enables the integration and interoperability of building automation systems (BASs) for real-time monitoring and control of security, secondary fire and other applications. The Pro-Watch platform currently integrates various security components but, with the Niagara Framework, can now integrate with systems such as secondary fire, lighting and HVAC. Now, says Honeywell, any automation system standardized on Niagara is immediately compatible with other systems connected to the framework, decreasing the development time and cost associated with integrating multiple BASs existing at geographically dispersed facilities. Among the Honeywell modules leveraging the Niagara Framework is the Pro-Watch Notifier Secondary Fire Interface.
