Bosch- and Siemens-branded washing machine technology leads to clothespin energy analyzer
May 15, 2012 - Until recently, large-scale industrial energy users in Germany have benefited from reduced tax rates on the electricity and gas they consume. Now the German government has decided that companies will only be eligible for such tax breaks when they take steps to reduce their energy consumption. From 2013 onward, tax rebates will only be granted to companies equipped with an energy management system that provides details of their power consumption.

Siemens set to acquire Canadian network supplier RuggedCom
January 31, 2012 - Siemens has entered into an agreement with RuggedCom Inc., a Canadian network supplier, to acquire all of the latter's issued and outstanding common shares. The takeover bid is for C$33.00 per common share in cash, or a total transaction value of approximately C$382 million. Subject to the satisfaction or waiver of certain limited conditions, Siemens expects to take up shares under the offer in the second half of March 2012.

Siemens showcases extensions to TIA Portal and the Simotics motor family
December 22, 2011 - Siemens has revealed that its latest extension to the TIA (Totally Integrated Automation) Portal—a full motor range—will be named “Simotics”. This latest release helps to accelerate the engineering of fail-safe applications using the new Step 7 Safety Advanced engineering tool, providing all the necessary project engineering and programming elements and offering newcomers a quick and intuitive entry into the world of programming, says Siemens. Innovations also include: a new generation of devices for the distributed I/O Simatic ET200SP; and new industrial communication products such as the Scalance X-500 industrial Ethernet switches.
