Leviton releases Evr-Green 400 Level 2 EV charging station
April 25, 2013 - Leviton has unveiled its Evr-Green 400 Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charging station, providing up to 40A of power at 240V AC (9.6 kW output) and enables fast charging of SAE J1772TM EVs. Suited for residential and light commercial use, the charging station features an integrated connector dock which simulates a gas station nozzle experience and a 25-f charging cable. The charging station meets UL, CSA and NEC EV charging station requirements, along with FCC Part 15 of the Federal Communications Commission for Residential Use.

ChargeMyCar.ca connects licensed electrical contractors with EV charger installations
February 20, 2013 - Launching this week at the 2013 Canadian International Auto Show is Plug’n Drive’s online portal, ChargeMyCar.ca, designed specifically to help consumers choose, buy and arrange the installation of an electric vehicle (EV) charger. Ontario’s Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) has partnered with the project and will connect homeowners with licensed electrical contractors for the installation. According to ESA, the service also helps protect the safety of homeowners by listing only products that are approved to be sold in Canada. Customers using the portal will get the opportunity to involve their local utility in the installation process, which Plug’n Drive says will assist utilities in protecting the local electricity grid.

However, a recent report states approximately 410,000 PEVs will be sold between 2011 and 2015 in the United States, and cumulative U.S. sales will not reach the 1 million mark until 2018.
