February 27, 2013 - Belkin has announced the WeMo light switch and Android compatibility to the WeMo brand of home control products, expanding on its promise to “deliver the peace of mind that comes from knowing you can control and monitor your home from wherever you are”. According to Belkin, the WeMo light switch replaces an existing light switch and connects into a home’s existing electrical wiring. Once in place, users can turn a full bank of lights on and off remotely, put them on a schedule, or use other WeMo or online triggers to control them through a smartphone or tablet. The WeMo light switch is controlled through the same free WeMo app as the WeMo switch and motion, and is compatible with any Wi-Fi router and Apple iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad with iOS v5 or higher.
February 14, 2013 - Wheatland Tube—a division of JMC Steel Group—launched its newest app for the iPad (iOS 6 platform): the Wheatland Electric Catalogue, which provides product information for Wheatland’s electrical sales teams, distribution partners and end-user electrical contractors. The app allows users to view and share the catalogue; access educational videos about Wheatland products; look up product specs; read code-compliance information, and more. January 15, 2013 - NexTraq has announced its new NexTraq Connect smartphone and tablet application, designed to empower and connect employees while in the field and away from their vehicles. The app allows users to record clock in/out and break times, communicate job status, view job locations and directions, assign drivers to vehicles and track vehicle maintenance needs. The app provides information to employees in real time, allowing fleet management to become a more automated process. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPad and Android mobile devices.

November 26, 2012 - Stanley has redesigned its Virtual Level app, now for iPad and new iPhone models, bringing users the “accuracy and reliability they are accustomed to with traditional Stanley levels in virtual form”, it says. Two virtual levels are included in the app which emulate existing Stanley levels: classic cherry wood or yellow FatMax. The Stanley level app is best suited for simple jobs like hanging pictures and mounting shelves. After an initial calibration, the bubble will read an angle up to 90º and will indicate 0º when you are level.

November 5, 2012 - A•light, a division of AmerillumBrands, is now connecting with electrical contractors, professional lighting specifiers, and corporate clients worldwide with new iPad and iPhone applications. Users can use these free apps to search product inventory by a•light mounting type, by family of a•light products, by LED-capable luminaires in general, and by Fixture Matrix. Each a•light product has additional links to descriptions, specification-sheet PDFs, overall product gallery, application/inspiration product gallery, and photometric criteria.

October 10, 2012 - Kohler Power Systems in now available on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch—the company's new Apple-compatible application features all current product catalogues and white papers. Many of the pieces include digital extras, such as: hot spots that directly link the user to the product page on Kohler’s website, pinch to zoom, and the ability to search from within a brochure or white paper. Once the app is downloaded, users will have all the newest literature pieces automatically pushed to his or her device. The free app is available for download at www.itunes.com/appstore.

September 4, 2012 - Cooper Lighting has published the sixth edition of its Product Selection Guide (PSG), a 1680-page printed catalogue featuring 23 sections of the company’s lighting and controls products, including individual product descriptions and features, photos, dimensions and complete ordering information. The guide includes a Table of Contents organized by brand; pictorial product index at the beginning of every brand; complete ordering information; and line art and specifications. The guide is also available electronically and can be accessed from the Cooper Lighting website (vpsg.cooperlighting.com). Smartphone and tablet users can also download the electronic guide at the App Store for the iPad and iPhone, and at the Android Market for other devices.

August 30, 2012 – Legrand/Pass & Seymour has developed a USB charger with tamper-resistant (TR) receptacle. Designed for residential use, the device feature a combination of 2 USB “A” style charging outlets and a 15A AC receptacle. The USB outlets are for charging only, and are compatible for use with various products, including: the Apple iPad, iPhone, and iPod; tablets; mobile phones and smartphones; Nintendo 3DS; Sony PlayStation Vita; and Bluetooth headsets.

July 24, 2012 - Siemens Energy’s customer magazine Living Energy is now also available as an iPad application. The Living Energy app offers its readers additional content and represents an alternative to the print version. According to Siemens Energy, the app expands the print version’s articles by adding audio statements, filmed interviews and statements and photo galleries, with a clear and easy-to-read layout. The app can be downloaded for free at the Apple App Store.

May 9, 2012 - Rittal is now offering RiTherm– an iPhone, iTouch and iPad app which calculates climate control requirements for individual enclosure assemblies. The app provides a compact variant of the full software version "Therm 6.1" and guides users to the most suitable, climate control component: project title, parameter, enclosure, selection, recommendation.
