March 16, 2012 - Holophane describes its next generation acrylic Washington PostLite II LED luminaires as delivering increased lumens per watt, improved lighted appearance and reduced uplight and light trespass. According to the company, the new LED optical design replicates HID light levels with asymmetric and symmetric distribution and comfortable, low-glare in multiple lumen packages for design flexibility. Like the original, the new generation is optimized to meet Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) RP8 street lighting recommended practice. The LED system offers a rated life of 50,000 hours.

March 6, 2012 - The new Cimarron LED outdoor luminaire from Spaulding Lighting, a Hubbell Lighting brand, is now available with a 20,000 lumen package - offering a choice of four lumen packages from 5K to over 20K lm. The new lumen package features 90 high brightness LEDS at 310w, and produces Type II, III, IV and V distributions in four brightness LED configurations. The series also features an energy control option which uses less than 50% of the energy of an equivalent HID at full brightness, adds the company.

February 28, 2012 - Livorno, HessAmerica’s new, architectural LED pole-mounted luminaire, has been selected for inclusion into the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) 2011 annual Progress Report. The Livorno LED pole-mounted luminaires are available in two sizes– with pole heights scaled proportionately, the cast aluminum luminaire accommodates two Levo LED modules in its smaller model; and up to six modules in a larger size, for applications where higher mounting heights are recommended. According to the company, the luminaries are well suited for corporate campuses, colleges and universities, malls, parks and retail establishments, where contemporary architectural design, low energy consumption and long life, are sought.

February 8, 2012 - Acuity Brands has expanded its LED outdoor lighting portfolio with the D-Series Size 1 LED area luminaire by Lithonia Lighting. When installed as a replacement for 100-400W metal halide luminaires, the product delivers approximately 65% energy savings and an expected service life of up to 100,000 hours or more, says the company. It is finished with a zinc-infused powder coat paint to help protect against corrosion and weathering.

January 27, 2012 - Sollos Landscape Lighting, a Halco Lighting Technologies company, has launched its Deck Mount Canopies, which it says are ideal for surface mounting low voltage landscape lighting fixtures on trees, decks, eaves, fences and walls. The fixtures combine aluminum construction and a DuPont Powder Coating for corrosion protection. Three notches along the canopy simplify wire feed thru and prevent pinching, it adds.

December 12, 2011 - Beacon Products, a division of Hubbell Lighting, has unveiled its Inspire LED outdoor luminaires—a collection of new contemporary-design luminaires, which provide highly energy-conserving lighting, it says. According to the company, the luminaires can be retrofitted in place of older, harsher, high energy-consuming units requiring more maintenance. All Inspire models provide broad, evenly distributed patterns of directional white light (unless amber LEDs are specified) yielding low or no glare, it adds. Additionally, the new full-colour, 132-page Inspire LED Collection catalogue is now available.

November 23, 2011 - Acuity Brands’ Holophane has launched its Night Time Demo –a unique demonstration program that enables customers to walk through a series of outdoor lighting environments and experience first-hand different outdoor lighting technologies in real world settings. The demo allows visitors to walk among 2000K, 3000K, 4000K, 5000K and 6000K colour temperature sources and evaluate the lighting quality of LED, high pressure sodium and various types of metal halide sources. According to the company, every luminaire in the demo is outfitted with a ROAM node, allowing them to be turned on/off and dimmed with the use of a tablet computer wirelessly connected to the Internet and the ROAM network operations center.
