April 10, 2013 - Philips Ledalite’s BoldPlay is a new portfolio of LED lighting systems that, says the company, is 44% more efficient and consumes 28% less energy than traditional technologies, like fluorescent. Delivering up to 106 lm/W, BoldPlay allows for row spacing at up to 20-ft apart while maintaining uniformity on the ceiling and workplane. The product’s LED light engine consists of a low-profile Light Guide Panel that helps extract and reflect light into a controlled direct/indirect distribution. It also integrates patented MesoOptics nanotechnology that promises to optimally blend light and colour while controlling high-angle glare. BoldPlay also features optional Response Daylight harvesting sensors that can reduce energy consumption up to another 35%.
April 10, 2013 - Halco Lighting Technologies announced the availability of ProLED T8 LED lamps to its offering of solid-state lighting. The retrofit tube is an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to linear fluorescent lamps, says Halco, consuming only 16W with a 40,000-hr rated life. The frosted finish maintains the look and feel of fluorescent, but can be used in a wider temperature range: -20C to 50C. These mercury-free T8 LEDs operate on 120V, are available in either 4000K or 5000K colour temperatures, and feature a 5-year limited warranty.
March 19, 2013 - The Zinnia 1300i from Journée Lighting offers more than 140 sq-in of heat sink within a 3-in diameter luminaire, boasting the large heat sink surface area allows the LED chip to operate at a lower temperature, improve lamp efficacy and extend the life of the LED. The Zinnia is compatible with standard line-voltage H-Track and J-Track and is suited for retrofit installations. The luminaire delivers 59 lumens per watt at 4000K.
February 5, 2013 - GE has rolled out its 2013 Lighting & Electrical Institute curriculum. Designers, facility managers, specifiers, consultants and other interested professionals are invited to learn about the latest innovations in lighting technology led by the institute’s staff.
