Ventes Electra Retrolum troffer retrofit solution
April 25, 2012 - While at Le Salon Lumen last week (CLICK HERE to check out our photos), we met Denis Ricard of Ventes Electra. We learned he has uploaded an installation video to YouTube for Retrolum: a troffer retrofit for 2x4 or 1x4 fixtures that converts them from 4xT12 to 2xT8 or 2xT12 to 1xT8 in, says Ricard, less than four minutes... all while maintaining the same light level.

Acuity Brands WSD NGX wall switch sensor now available
March 20, 2012 - Acuity Brands has added the WSD NGX (neutral/ground exchangeable) wall switch sensor to its Sensor Switch line of occupancy sensors. The WSD NGX sensor can use either the neutral conductor required by NEC 2011 for new construction projects, or the ground connection for retrofit applications. The WSD NGX is available in both Passive Infrared (PIR) and Dual Technology (PDT) versions.

Light Efficient Design unveils LED-8025 Garage/Utility bulb
February 1, 2012 - Light Efficient Design has introduced the new LED-8025 Garage/Utility bulb, meant to replace existing high intensity discharge (HID) or high pressure sodium (HPS) bulbs. According to the company, by switching to the LED-8025, users can save: energy costs – the 52W bulb replaces up to 175W metal halide bulb; maintenance costs – each bulb has an estimated 50,000 hour life; overall retrofit project costs – replace existing bulbs, rather than more costly LED replacement fixtures. The bulb includes an active cooling feature comprised of a Delta 70,000 hour fan.

Verbatim LED retrofit lamps awarded Energy Star
January 20, 2012 - Verbatim Americas LLC, a member of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corp. (MCHC) group, has received Energy Star qualification for its new line of PAR-type retrofit LED lamps. According to the company, the lamps assure users high efficiency and long lifetime with consistent colour output, and provide up to 80% reduction in energy consumption. Verbatim’s Energy Star qualified LED retrofit lamps include:
• PAR20 – 3000K, 500 lumen output and 9 watts
• PAR30 – 2700K, 740 lumen output and 14 watts
• PAR30 – 3000K, 800 lumen output and 14 watts
• PAR38 – 2700K, 920 lumen output and 17 watts
• PAR38 – 3000K , 1000 lumen output and 17 watts

Acuity Brands' Lithonia Lighting launches Z Series LED striplight
January 17, 2012 - Acuity Brands has expanded its LED indoor lighting portfolio with the Z Series LED striplight by Lithonia Lighting. The company describes the luminaire as compact, low-profile solid-state strips that deliver long maintenance-free performance in a wide range of retrofit and new construction applications. The striplight is available in both T5 and T8 lengths, and may be surface-mounted or suspended with chain, aircraft cable or stem. It also comes in white, galvanized, matte black or smoke grey finishes.

Lutron Electronics boasts of its Energi TriPak product family
December 16, 2011 - Light control manufacturer, Lutron Electronics claims its Energi TriPak product family is a simple, cost-effective energy-saving light control retrofit solution, which provides the ability to choose the components to meet specific project needs. According to Lutron, the Energi TriPak saves energy by utilizing occupancy sensing, daylight harvesting, personal control, and high-end trim, and communicates wirelessly via Lutron Clear Connect Radio Frequency (RF) technology. Radio Powr Savr occupancy/vacancy sensors are available in both ceiling-mount and wall-mount options for sensing coverage.

Beacon introduces Inspire LED outdoor luminaires
December 12, 2011 - Beacon Products, a division of Hubbell Lighting, has unveiled its Inspire LED outdoor luminaires—a collection of new contemporary-design luminaires, which provide highly energy-conserving lighting, it says. According to the company, the luminaires can be retrofitted in place of older, harsher, high energy-consuming units requiring more maintenance. All Inspire models provide broad, evenly distributed patterns of directional white light (unless amber LEDs are specified) yielding low or no glare, it adds. Additionally, the new full-colour, 132-page Inspire LED Collection catalogue is now available.
