Pacific Crest expands transformer design with Nomex 910

February 10, 2016 | By Renée Francoeur

February 10, 2016 – Pacific Crest Transformers (PCT), in co-operation with DuPont, says it can now offer higher temperature rise transformers in mineral oil.

Nomex 910 is an insulating material comprised of high quality cellulose and Nomex aramid ingredients, which, according to Pacific Crest, provides better thermal and electrical performance than traditional cellulosic paper.

With an insulation material, which can withstand higher temperatures, Pacific Crest claims it can design a higher capacity from a smaller footprint; this will enable PCT to provide replacement transformers for the aging installed base.

PCT is a 96 years-old manufacturer of liquid-filled distribution, power and specialty transformers.
