GE releases Lentronics JunglePAX networking for teleprotection

April 21, 2016 | By Renée Francoeur

April 21, 2016 – GE’s Grid Solutions has launched Lentronics JunglePAX, a packet switched networking solution specifically designed for utility operations. This solution will help enable the convergence of the many utility communications requirements and reduce cyber vulnerabilities, GE says.

The Lentronics JunglePAX platform allows utilities to meet new packet switch requirements, using multi-protocol label switching with transport profile (MPLS-TP) technology. The platform performs pre-determined repeatable outcomes using packet-based applications and is designed with “layers of redundancy for improved security and dependability”.

Other key features include:
• Low end-to-end service latency within 4ms, excluding propagation delay,
• Industrial hardened for IEEE 1613 & IEC 61850-3 compliance with no cooling fans,
• Processes 24 gigabits of traffic across the extended -20ºC to 60ºC operating temperature.
