WARNING: “Sewell” communications cable may pose fire hazard (16PN-04)

June 3, 2016 – UL is warning consumers of a “Sewell” communications cable, type CMR, that may pose a fire hazard (16PN-04). The cable does not comply with UL’s safety standards and is not authorized to bear the UL Mark in the United States or Canada.

The product, manufactured by China’s Fenghua Kingsun Co. Ltd. in April 2015, does not meet the flammability requirements of the safety standard, which may cause an increased risk of fire.

The surface of the cable jacket displays the following description: SEWELL SFTP CAT5E EIA/TIA 568 CMR (UL)E353635 24AWG 4 PAIRS.

One side of the box displays the following:
