February 25, 2014 By Anthony Capkun

February 25, 2014 – GDF Suez Canada Inc. announced the 10MW Beckwith solar project in Ontario has entered commercial operation under a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Ontario Power Authority (OPA).
The $50-million project was developed under Ontario’s Feed-in Tariff (FIT) Program, and is located about 50 km from Ottawa. It comprises 44,000 solar panels on about 80 acres of land.
The lead contractor responsible for engineering, construction and performance of the project was a joint venture of AMEC and Black & McDonald, says GDF, adding the construction team consisted primarily of labourers and electricians from Ontario.
