Hendrix says it has developed polyethylene insulators to help minimize environmental impact, as well as a means of minimizing costs to customers as an incentive to do so. As part of its new Cradle-to-Cradle program, customers are encouraged to dispose of insulators by sending any used HPI products to a local recycler, or by shipping them back to Hendrix for recycling at:

Hendrix HPI polyethylene insulators are suited for both bare wire and covered conductors, and offer an alternative solution to porcelain insulators. According to the company, the insulators deliver longer leakage distance and higher impulse strength.
