AFL APM-101/102 automatic systems for field and specialty splicing

October 9, 2014 | By Alyssa Dalton

October 9, 2014 – AFL says its APM-101/102 automatic preparation machines allow technicians to quickly and efficiently strip, clean and cleave fibers in 18-21 seconds.

The automatic operating and cleaning systems perform all the steps necessary to prepare optical fibers before splicing including: stripping the fiber without degrading quality, cleaning it with alcohol, and cleaving consistently at a right angle to the fiber axis, says AFL. “The new APM series is a game changer for high volume fiber assembly operations,” says Brad Hendrix, global specialty market manager. An automatic cleaning process promises to keep vital system components clean without the need for refills to the alcohol-based system.
