February 20, 2014 | By Alyssa Dalton

February 20, 2014 – AFL, a fiber optic cable and accessories manufacturer and provider of services, is celebrating its 30-year anniversary this year.

Established in 1984, the business commenced operations in Spartanburg, S.C., where it manufactured optical ground wire (OPGW), a fiber optic cable used on transmission lines. Through growth and acquisitions, AFL has developed to offer solutions for telecom, broadband, enterprise and electric utility to oil and gas, mining and transportation.

According to AFL, it will commemorate its 30 years by extending its reach into communities through a Habitat for Humanity project, a community service team, tree planting and other outreach initiatives.
