AFL launches Fujikura 21S mid-range fusion splicer

February 4, 2015 | By Renée Francoeur

February 4, 2015 – AFL has introduced the Fujikura 21S, a mid-range fusion splicer that uses “active cladding alignment” to provide low loss splice results, the company said.

The rugged Fujikura 21S fusion splicer has moveable v-grooves, removable sheath clamps, a large 4.7-in LCD monitor and is fully compatible with AFL’s FuseConnect fusion spliced field installable connectors, AFL noted.

“With the introduction of the Fujikura 21S fusion splicer, we have filled the gap between core alignment and fixed v-groove technologies,” commented Greg Pickeral, product manager for AFL’s fusion splicing systems. “The 21S is ideal for FTTX contractors who don’t necessarily need the accuracy level of a core alignment machine, but they appreciate a higher tolerance level for dust and contaminants.”

AFL offers technical support 24/7 and complimentary on-site training is available with every splicer purchased.
