AFL OSP MicroCore now accommodates up to 432 fibers

November 23, 2014 | By Anthony Capkun

November 23, 2014 – AFL’s OSP MicroCore air-jetted fiber optic cable product line has expanded with the introduction of a 432-fiber Telcordia GR-20-compliant MicroCore cable.

With a 12.6-mm outer diameter, AFL boasts this cable is one of the world’s smallest high-fiber count cables with a stranded core geometry designed for mid-span access and fiber express through applications typically used in the FTTx market. The OSP MicroCore cable is capable of withstanding over 300 lb of tensile load bearing, says AFL, and is suitable in operating temperature ranges found in most outside plant FTTx environments. The company says this is a suitable solution for outside plant installations, campus inter-building backbone distribution and low-cost fiber upgrade migration strategies.
