February 16, 2022 – Through their joint venture partnership, Alltrade Industrial Contractors Inc. and SkyFire Energy Inc. have embarked upon another utility-scale renewable energy project in Newell County, near Brooks, Alta.

“Our team is excited to be working closely with Elemental Energy on this key utility-scale solar project utilizing proven single-axis tracking technology paired with bifacial solar modules,” said Alltrade’s Kevin Ritzmann, senior director, Western Canada.

Elemental Energy develops, owns and operates wind, solar and hydro projects across North America. It selected Alltrade-Skyfire as the engineer, procure, construct (EPC) contractor for the Brooks Solar II project (32.8 MWp, 26.5 MWac), which spans over 160 acres. The project is expected to be fully operational early this year.

“It is great to be a part of the EPC team growing the Brooks site,” said David Kelly, CEO of SkyFire Energy. “SkyFire and Alltrade used some innovative thinking and technology to meet challenging geotechnical conditions [to] build a cost-effective foundation for the project.”

The Alltrade-SkyFire partnership was formed to build solar and solar-plus-storage projects in Western Canada. The joint venture takes advantage of SkyFire’s local experience and workforce combined with Alltrade’s utility-scale solar project experience. SkyFire has built over 50 MW of solar projects in Western and Northern Canada. Alltrade has constructed over 1 GW of solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects across Canada.
