December 22, 2012 – Alstom Grid says it has completed its acquisition of ASAT Solutions Inc., a Calgary, Alta.-based based substation automation solutions provider.

“This acquisition is a great opportunity for Alstom Grid to help accelerate the development of ASAT business while broadening our smart grid ready offer to the market. We look forward to welcoming the ASAT team to the SAS business and enhancing our presence in North America,” said Hervé Amossé, VP Alstom Grid Substation Automation Solutions.

ASAT is a smart grid technology company that specializes in managing, securing and delivering substation information for utility operation, maintenance and asset management applications. The smart substation technologies enable electric utilities to be proactive with information for improving the power system operation, efficiency and reliability, says Alstom.

ASAT products are in operation at major North American utilities, adds Alstom, as well as other global national utilities. Typical deployments are for substation modernization projects with remote terminal unit (RTU) -based architectures, as well as the increasing demand for the IEC 61850 standard-based architectures.
