(UPDATED Sept 21 with VIDEO) September 19, 2014 – Altec Inc. highlighted the celebration of 85 years with a commemorative event, which included a formal ribbon cutting at the company’s original facility in North Birmingham, Alabama, following renovations at the plant. Congratulations!

More than 400 guests, dignitaries and Altec associates attended the event, and Birmingham Mayor William A. Bell issued a special proclamation recognizing Altec’s 85-year contribution to the city.

The grandfather of current Altec chair and CEO, Lee Styslinger III, started the company in 1929. “My father continued to expand and broaden that vision, allowing Altec to eventually grow into a global company that now offers products and services in more than 100 countries throughout the world,” said Styslinger.

The facility renovations included investments in manufacturing technology, including laser-cutting equipment, high-efficiency paint line production and conversions to 3-D engineering. In addition, renovations to office work areas enlarged the facility’s administrative space.
