Appleton designs ATX FE series of fluorescent fixtures

April 10, 2013 | By Alyssa Dalton

April 10, 2013 – Appleton says its new ATX FE series of nonmetallic fluorescent luminaries, available in both standard and battery back-up models, feature a cover and housing designed to resist high winds and shock in extreme onshore and offshore environments. For operations at the other end of the climate spectrum, the 55C ambient temperature rating and UV tolerance makes the ATX FE series suitable for use in the heat, sand and bright sun, adds Appleton. The fixtures are designed with an unbreakable rack-and-pinion mechanism that can be unlocked with a single Allen wrench or flat screwdriver, while preventing the luminaire from being energized unless the cover is properly closed and locked. An IP2X terminal shield cover allows an electrician to work on the ballast even with mains power present, and the terminal block is designed for easy wiring, it says.
