Appleton has launched Unicode 2 “increased safety” control station, which provides motor control in areas classified as Divisions or Zones by the National Electrical Code (NEC) or the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), as well as in Zone areas as defined by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Appleton explains that Unicode 2 “greatly simplifies the critical task of specifying components in industrial areas where flammable vapors, gases or combustible dusts are present, such as in oil refineries, paint factories or power plants.” Unicode 2 can be specified in polyamide, fiberglass reinforced polyester, 316L brushed stainless steel, or aluminum protected from corrosion by a gray epoxy powder coating.
