Appleton Powertite plugs and receptacles aim to protect
June 25, 2013 | By Stephanie Lai
June 25, 2013 – Appleton Powertite Series plugs and receptacles provide NEMA 4X protection in work environments through materials such as neoprene gaskets, a beveled cable clamp with low-durometer grommet, stainless steel hardware, and an electrostatically applied epoxy powder coat finish. There is substantial metal-to-metal contact between the pins and sleeves in the Powertite preventing heat build-up, and there is no set-screw on the clamp assembly, eliminating risk of seizing or stripping, says the company. The receptacle ground strap is secured directly to the housing with a stainless steel screw to minimize shock hazard, while the terminal pins feature a beryllium/copper clip that minimizes arcing potential and reduces fatigue to ensure a solid fit through more than 10,000 plug-in cycles, according to Appleton.
