Appleton Speedlock connectors connect cable fast

July 23, 2015 | By Renée Francoeur

July 23, 2015 – According to Appleton, a business unit of Emerson Industrial Automation, electricians can connect armored cable, metal-clad cable or flexible metallic conduit to steel boxes and enclosures “twice as fast and at less cost than traditional connectors” with the new Speedlock double snap connectors.

Speedlock connectors require no tools or a locknut, Appleton said, and are available in several configurations: straight, straight for old work, duplex for installing two cables in a single KO, and 90 degree.

Electricians snap the connector onto the cable, and then snap it into the knock-out. The zinc connectors are reusable and designed to terminate 3/8-in. or 1/2-in. flexible conduit in 1/2-in. steel box KO’s or enclosures in dry locations. Red insulated throats also create a smooth pulling surface to protect the wire insulation from damage, Appleton noted.

Appleton Speedlock double snap connectors are cULus listed for use in CEC governed locations.
