Sept. 10, 2019 – Dupont has announced the winners of its sixth annual Kevlar glove innovation awards, which honour personal protection equipment (PPE) manufacturers for excellence in glove and sleeve designs using its Kevlar aramid fibre.

“We continue to be impressed with the inventive ways licensees incorporate Kevlar to provide protection, comfort and dexterity to workers,” says David Domnisch, global leader for DuPont’s personal protection business. “This year, we’ve seen glove designs focus on increased cut resistance and protection against arc hazards and nail gun injuries.”

Entries were judged on criteria in the areas of technology advancement, innovation and benefits to the wearer, including enhanced protection, increased dexterity, comfort and durability for industrial environments. This year’s winners were announced during a special reception at the 2019 National Safety Council (NSC) Congress & Expo in San Diego, Calif.

Among the winners of interest to the electrical industry, Youngstown Glove was recognized for the FR Ground Glove, which features Kevlar sewn directly into leather for a non-slip liner for flame resistance and increased arc ratings; and Majestic’s 21285WR, a goatskin glove lined with Kevlar, achieved level 3 arc resistance.
