June 28, 2019 – Schneider Electric has introduced ArcBlok technology in its Square DTM Model 6 motor control centre (MCC) for mitigating arc flashes, improving electrical workers’ safety and protecting equipment from damage.

ArcBlok is not just a barrier, but is designed to prevent arc flashes from originating and, if a problem occurs, to extinguish the energy. The passive system can contain the line-side arc flash event in a special cable vault at the equipment’s maximum rated level.

A newly designed main MCC section reinforces the structure, while added sensors allow temperature monitoring via mobile device, without the personal protective equipment (PPE) normally required for infrared (IR) thermography. The unit can be specified for new installations or retrofits.
