Are you ready to build Your Energy Future?

March 22, 2017 | By Anthony Capkun

March 22, 2017 – Are you ready to build Your Energy Future? If so, the Public Policy Forum and Action Canada have jointly launched a national policy engagement and leadership development program just for you!

“Canada’s young people are the ones who will be living with the outcomes of decisions taken in the next few years,” said Edward Greenspon, President and CEO of the Public Policy Forum. “It is important that policymakers are exposed to the considered energy policy future they chart.”

If selected, the program “Your Energy Future” will provide 15-20 emerging leaders (ages 18-35) with further leadership skills, experience conducting public consultations and policy research, and opportunities for cross-Canada travel.

Working together, this group of leaders “will inform Canada’s mid-century targets to address climate change, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and maintain energy security for Canadians through a generational transition period”.

The group will provide recommendations that reflect the views and values of an ensemble of young Canadians who have had the opportunity to deliberate these issues. To inform their recommendations, participants will engage with subject matter experts across industry, government and academia, and engage in broad in-person and online engagement activities with other young Canadians.

Participants will present their findings at a national conference and release recommendations under the Public Policy Forum banner.

Applications are due by 5 pm Pacific, April 21, 2017.

More information is available at yourenergyfuture.ca.

The project is made possible with funding from the governments of Canada, Alberta and the Northwest Territories, and the Lawson Foundation.
