Atlas Copco 1MW QAC 1200 generator best when paralleled

January 8, 2015 | By Anthony Capkun

January 8, 2015 – Atlas Copco says its QAC 1200 generators produce 1MW of “predictable” power, with operators able to parallel up to 16 QAC 1200s for “greater dependability, versatility and reduced fuel consumption”.

The generators feature plug-and-play technology that allows users to connect the units with a single cable. Once done, they can connect the power cables to a common bus, set the desired parameters, and the generators automatically synchronize, enabling them to automatically power down or up, depending on the load requirement. The QAC 1200 is engineered into custom, 20-ft enclosures with the same footprint and form factor as ISO containers. The enclosure also helps minimize engine noise to 75 dBA at 23 ft, says the company, making the genset suitable for applications near hospitals, museums and schools. The product features a Cummins QST30G5 diesel engine that is EPA Tier 2 certified and provides 1158kVA/926kW prime power rating (60Hz). Optional cold-weather packages are available.
