BASF opening battery materials R&D laboratory and technology centre

February 27, 2013 – BASF is opening a new R&D laboratory and an application technology centre for battery materials in Amagasaki, Japan, which will focus on researching electrolytes and electrode materials for high-performance batteries.

“Our aim is to develop innovative materials for high-performance batteries that will significantly improve battery performance for electric cars and consumer applications,” said Dr. Andreas Fischer, VP battery research & electrochemistry at BASF. “By extending our local R&D infrastructure, we can successfully involve the competencies of our researchers from other BASF divisions.”
